Happy Monday!!! It was a busy weekend, here! My kids were in town, and we were out all day yesterday ... walking the upper west side of Manhattan, dipping in and out of shops and eateries. Yes ... eateries as in restaurants.
My daughter-in-law (best DIL ever) introduced me to a new way of eating out. First, you find a lovely bar to have a drink. (I had 1/3 of a bloody mary!) Then, a place for appetizers (a Tapas bar - artichokes for me - YUM!). Then to a Greek restaurant where we shared (4 of us) a greek dish - some kind of fabulous pie that was covered in melted feta cheese and arugula. Then to a diner for coffee and dessert, where we split a slice of apple pie 4 ways.
It felt like we were eating for hours - which we were - but we ate small amounts in each place and walked at least one-half mile (10 blocks) in between courses.
I don't know if you remember, but last winter I was so fed up with living in cold NYC, that I almost moved to North Carolina!!! Yesterday, even though the thought of owning a real home with closets and having a yard to sit in is tempting, I so appreciated living in a walking city, where I could visit an Irish bar, a Spanish Tapas place, followed by a Greek restaurant and finally an America diner all in one afternoon, while walking. Next time they visit, we are mapping out a tour of the world!!!
Anyway ... that's why this KICK is a bit late. I usually finish it up on Sunday night and load it into the Internet ethers to be sent out early, but I just had to lie down and sleep!!! :)
I hope you had a lovely weekend, and praise be - may spring be upon us soon!!!
And now onto today's KICK that is chock a block with fabulous information, a delish recipe and check out today's Chewing the Fat. I really do think it will have a positive impact on the way you think! Of course, leading to permanent weight removal!!! Enjoy!
The Green Tea Diet: Miracle drink melts fat! "Better to be deprived of food for three days, than tea for one." ~ Ancient Chinese Proverb Last week, while getting my hair 'done,' a lovely young woman whose hair was dyed black with a few blue highlights (absolutely fabulous, didn't have the nerve to do it myself) made me a cup of green tea! The tea was soothing, delicious and while drinking it, I remembered that green tea has been reported to help one lose weight. So, when I got home, I did a bit of digging and reading and here's what I learned! ... Read On!

Hunger, prolonged, is temporary madness! The brain is at work without its required food, and the most fantastic notions fill the mind. Hitherto I had never known what hunger really meant. I was likely to understand it now.

Dear Janice (a.k.a. Our Lady of Weight Loss) ~ I have zero will power. I can't stick to anything. I am tired of all this weight I have on my hips, thighs and belly. I just don't know how to get rid of it. I keep eating too much all of the time! Help!!! ~ Jennifer V.
Dear Jennifer ~ Before you begin your healthy eating plan, might I suggest that you first look at the belief systems that are present in your language!
First know that your subconscious mind is taking in everything you say and that you are essentially embedding negative messages a.k.a. negative self-hypnosis!
1. "I have zero will power." Zero? None whatsoever? Please think of a time - even if only for a brief minute - that you did exhibit will power.
2. And ... as I love to say, "There is no such thing as will power; only want power." You have to want it enough - no if, and or but - about it.
3. "I can't stick to anything." Another blanket statement! Really, nothing whatsoever, at all???
4. Instead of saying, "I can't stick to anything." Say this: "I don't know how to follow my food plan, YET! I am investigating, exploring and discovering ways to make this work for me. One step at a time."
5. "I am tired ..." is a tiring statement. How about, "I am ready to work at this and change the way I think, talk and eat."
6. "get rid of it." What might it be like to say '"I am exploring ways of letting 'it' go?" I don't know about you, but - for me - getting rid of something feels a bit aggressive. If it works for you - okay - but I kind of steer my brain toward a gentler way - how about 'let go of the excess weight?'
7. "I am eating too much all of the time." All of the time? "I am ..." are identity statements. When you hear yourself saying "I am ..." remember that you are defining yourself, in this case as a person who eats too much all of the time. How else might you define yourself, in a positive way?
Our actions follow our thoughts. Language is important. Your first step to permanent weight loss is listening to and observing your thoughts, your words, the phrases that you spin and then, if need be, stop and rewrite them. How much better do you feel now that you are infusing positive language into your thoughts and beliefs?
Thank you, Jennifer, for sending in your email that is ripe with delicious learning and possibility. ~ Janice
