Janice Taylor's ... KICK IN THE TUSH CLUB
Greetings Tushkateers!

Need a weekly KICK in the TUSH? Sign up! Invite a friend!

Greetings Tushkateers! You'll never guess where I am - right now, as I write!  I'm on a Delta flight on my way to Phoenix for a Integrative Mental Health Conference (I signed up for a Laughter workshop!!!), and there's Internet service on the plane. Ain't that something!!! I just can not get over this modern world :)  I'm so happy, cause now I have something great to do ... write to YOU!

I want to pass on some very interesting information that I learned this week! Weight Loss Counseling is a tax deduction! The excerpt that I read regarding what's covered said that "You can deduct behavioral counseling, specifically for weight loss.  Make sure you have appropriate documentation from your provider, as well as payment receipts." Just an FYI - I am a Weight Loss Counselor, and I can provide the documentation.  Needless to say, do check with your accountant to make sure all the 'i's are dotted and 't's crossed, and then write me for a free consult!

Now I am excited to share a few audio links that I created.   The first is called "Imagine!" and the 2nd is an intro to the new plan that I am working on: "The Hyp-NO Diet: Have You Cake and Eat It Plan."  They are samples - tasty tidbits - if you will; a preview of what I am working on! Needless to say, I would love to get your feedback. Feel free to critique honestly, and let me know what you want me to create for you!  Write me!

And ...  I'm inviting you to sign up for my Omega workshop, because I know that my workshops are really, really good; actually great!  And it would be so fantastic if you could be there!  The Omega workshop is entitled: "Our Lady of Weight Loss EnLIGHTens: Health, Happiness and Well Being!"  In addition, to blowing the fat cells out our mind, we are going to build an altar to Our Lady of Weight Loss and sacrifice our Twinkies!  My workshops are more like transformational playshops.  Please COME!  If you have any questions, write me!

This week's KICK, which includes a post on Sandra Bullock and Jesse James, (I seriously felt bad about the whole thing, because they looked so happy at the Oscars.)  and a multitude of other motivational and informative musings, mind-blowing emails to OLofWL in the Chewing the Fat section, and more!

Spread the word ... NOT the icing,

Janice

PS:  Because I am traveling, it is possible that you won't hear from me next Monday!!!  I know, a Monday without a KICK is like sunshine without the sun????   Whatever ... hang in and talk in two weeks!  In the meantime, feel free to write me!  I've got my laptop with me (clearly)!

Last week, I asked "What feeds your soul?"  Here's what you had to say:

Patti writes: "Jesus!  A sexy  husband!  Great family/friends!  Good food and, alas, some yum junk food.  Books! Music!  Spring bursting out allllll over Oregon!  Iced tea 'n diet coke.  Humor in all it's forms!  Baby animals.  My computer.  Writing.  Special treasures that make me smile just to look at them.  People watching.  Cooking. Movies, television, concerts 'n plays.  2nd hand shopping at thrift stores.  The glorious mountains and beaches. Rivers 'n lakes.  A quick thrill--however it comes!  Ok, I'm done--now it's time for a fresh, hot cuppa coffee----ahhhhhh, the final soul feeder!  Love you, Janice!  You fit into a lot of those categories above--how lovely!"

Juicy Jean writes: The smell of spring in the air, even if it's foggy-as it has been and when it burns off into a bright sunny day, the process feeds my soul.  Kisses from my long-haired Chihuahua feed my soul to its depths:o)   Daily readings from various writers feed my soul and touch me in a way that makes me want to share it with someone else-so I make copies and place them on my door at work with the chance it may feed someone elses soul.

Roxanne writes: Art, art, and in case I don’t tell you later: ART!!  Mixed media collage, bead-stitched jewelry, and almost anything I can do with polymer clay are just a few of the things I use to make art which makes me happy!

Thanks!!! That was fun!!!

Sex Tips!  Sandra Bullock, Jesse James and the Tattoo Artist

Another story of betrayal! I liked that Sandra Bullock was 'happily' married to Jesse James. I like off-beat characters, and sweet love stories. When Sandra got all teary-eyed at the Oscars, smiling lovingly at her beloved husband, I got teary-eyed too, and held hands with my husband.

Now, less than two weeks later, that fairy tale (I guess it was a fairy tale) has morphed into a story of betrayal and a nightmare for Sandra. Jesse James, her husband of five years, host of Monster Garage, has allegedly been cheating on Sandra with tattoo artist, Michelle 'Bombshell' McGee....

Brilliant Weight Loss Tips: iVillage quotes Janice Taylor

Don't sip your water. Instead, drink it fast and ice cold, says Janice Taylor, weight loss coach, author and creator of the Kick in the Tush Club, which inspires dieters to stay on track. "Eight glasses of water, spaced well through the day, gives a metabolic boost that equals approximately 25 calories per glass," Taylor says. Your body has to put in some effort to warm that water, which leads to more calories burned. ... Read On!

The Quote of the Week

When people get married because they think it's a long-time love affair, they'll be divorced very soon, because all love affairs end in disappointment. But marriage is a recognition of a spiritual identity.” - Joseph Cambell

Chewing the Fat

Dear Our Lady of Weight Loss ~   Please ... send some wise words my way.  Why is it that we (mostly women) can multitask, feed the kids health food, hold down a job, run the house and on and on, but cannot stick to a diet or live a healthy life? Are we misssing a gene?

As with most of us, I start out determined and then poof, I am right back to feeling defeated. I am now down from 256 to 211, although it took me 7 years to get there!!! That's a 45 pound turkey!!! OMG.

What is the big stumbling block for us? Do we subconsciously think we don't deserve to enjoy good health and a trim figure? There has to be an answer... and you are just the woman to fnd that answer... and gee, when you do, would you pass it on?  Love, hugs and thanks, Anniepie

Dear Anniepie ~ Permanent weight loss is a multi-layered event. Yes, sometimes we 'hold onto' our excess, stay fat, for a number of reasons.  In my book, All Is Forgiven, Move On: Our Lady of Weight Loss's 101 Steps on Your Journey to Sveltesville does address the question "Why do you want to be fat?"

In the meantime, here are a few questions for YOU to answer that may help you move from stuck to unstuck. "WHAT WILL LOSING WEIGHT GIVE ME THAT I WOULDN'T OTHERWISE HAVE?"  Please, note that I didn't ask 'why do you want to lose weight?'  It's a very different question, isn't it? Once you've answered that - in depth - on paper, in your OLofWL Journal!!! - then ask yourself,  "What will it look like when my current challenge is no longer a problem and I am free to live a life I love?"  "What does a 'life that I love' mean to me?"

The answer lives within you.  As your weight loss coach, it is my intention (job/purpose) to ask questions that provoke thinking!  So think today, write today.  Be curious. Explore and discover. Let me know what answer emerges.    ~ Janice aka OLofWL

Righteous Recipe
Corned Beef and Cabbage  Okay, St. Patrick's Day was last week!  Still, corned beef and cabbage is delish!  And be sure to check out how to make a Green Dessert Mocktail!

faToid: 3 ounces of corned beef is approximately 210 calories / 70 calories per ounce.

Ingredients: 3 pounds corned beef brisket with spice packet * 10 small red potatoes * 1/2 pound onions, very small wedges * 5 carrots, peeled and chopped into bite sized pieces * 1 large head cabbage, cut into small wedges

Alternate spices: 1 tablespoon coarsely ground black pepper * 1 teaspoon ground allspice * 2 bay leaves * 2 teaspoons kosher salt

Instructions:  Place corned beef in large pot or Dutch oven and cover with water.  *Sprinkle the spice packet that came with the corned beef. (If you purchased a corned beef without the spice packet, don't panic!!! See 'Alternate spices.') * Cover pot and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.  * Simmer approximately 50 minutes per pound or until tender. (In this case approx. 2.5 hours!) * Add whole potatoes, onions and carrots. Cook until the vegetables are almost tender.  * Add cabbage and cook for another 15 minutes. * Remove meat and let it rest, breathe, cool on the counter for about 15 minutes before slicing!

Tips:  Slice meat across the grain!  * For a pretty presentation, serve on platter with the vegetable circling the sliced corned beef. * Save the liquid and use as a 'gravy.' Drizzle over veggies et al!

And NOW for your GREEN DESSERT MOCKTAIL ... Smoothie!
