Featured in SHAPE MAGAZINE:  I was talking with one of my star clients (you're all stars), and she said, "What a surprise!  I was reading Shape magazine this morning and  there you were - in their 'Weight Loss Diary' column. (Yes, I am the official Life Coach for Shape Magazine 2010) I see that the woman in Shape is following your teachings about 'the rules',' and she  is losing weight like mad.  Why don't I follow 'the rules'?"  We had a good chuckle over that one!  Yes, why  not follow the rules? I replied, "We've spoken about the rules.  Perhaps, now that you've read it in a well-respected national magazine and have proof positive that creating rules work, you will fully commit to your rules and melt those extra pounds away."  Enthusiastically she said, "Yes, I will!"

Today, I share the Shape magazine column and invite you to work with me to create Your Rules!  Join with us ... A teleseminar - The Rules: New Habits, New You! Easy as Pie!  Wednesday, April 28 at 8 p.m. Eastern time. ... for more info, to sign up, read on! Or write me!

New Video: I am also happy to share my latest video with you, which is an invitation for you to "imagine."  I'd love for you to watch it and tell me what it might look like to imagine that your current challenge is no longer a problem ...  Watch and Write me (please)!!!

After you watch it, please do sign up for my Omega workshop, entitled: "Our Lady of Weight Loss EnLIGHTens: Health, Happiness and Well Being!"  In addition, to blowing the fat cells out our mind, we are going to build an altar to Our Lady of Weight Loss and sacrifice our Twinkies!  My workshops are more like transformational playshops.  Please COME!  If you have any questions, write me

Now ... your Monday morning KICK!!!

I hear tell that Oscar and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson is losing it! Pounds that is! Jennifer, on behalf of WeightWatchers, kicked off a national ad campaign last Sunday. National Holiday!  NO Housework Day.

I'm not sure how "No Housework Day" originated or when it was first celebrated. I am imagining that a woman who was tired of her daily chores, tired of the dust reappearing, that a woman who was more than likely being taken for granted threw her arms up in the air, took in a deep breath and proclaimed rather loudly "I need a break. I declare this day, April 7, to henceforth be No Housework Day!"... Read On!

Dancing With the Stars: Niecy Nash Sheds Tears NOT Pounds

Kelly Osbourne danced away 42 pounds last season. Jennie Garth, Mya , Mel B. from the Spice Girls, Jane Seymour, Lisa Rina and Marie Osmond (while on Nutrisystems) toned their arms, lifted their butts, and dropped at least 100 pounds (combined total).

Niecy Nash, however, star of "Reno 911" is dedicating her dance performance to "thick girls everywhere." ...  Read On!

Weight Loss Counseling is a tax deduction!

I'd mentioned in the last KICK that Weight Loss Counseling is a tax deduction.  A bunch of y'all wrote me, asking for more info.  So ... here follows an excerpt from the IRS website.  Needless to say, but I'll say it anyway - I am not an accountant.  You definitely should check with your accountant to make sure all the 'i's are dotted and 't's crossed, and then write me for a free consult!

Here's what the IRS site said:   You can include in medical expenses amounts you pay to lose weight if it is a treatment for a specific disease diagnosed by a physician (such as obesity, hypertension, or heart disease). This includes fees you pay for membership in a weight reduction group, weight loss counseling as well as fees for attendance at periodic meetings. You cannot include membership dues in a gym, health club, or spa as medical expenses, but you can include separate fees charged there for weight loss activities.

You cannot include the cost of diet food or beverages in medical expenses because the diet food and beverages substitute for what is normally consumed to satisfy nutritional needs. You can include the cost of special food in medical expenses only if: The food does not satisfy normal nutritional needs; the food alleviates or treats an illness, and the need for the food is substantiated by a physician.

Tasty AUDIO Coaching Tidbits: The first is called "Imagine!" and the 2nd is an intro to the new plan that I am working on: "The Hyp-NO Diet: Have You Cake and Eat It Plan."  They are samples - tasty tidbits - if you will; a preview of what I am working on and how I work.    Interested in one-on-one coaching?  Write me

Chewing the Fat

Dear Our Lady of Weight Loss ~   I just can’t seem to get through not even ONE DAY eating healthy and on program.  After dinner is the worst.  I become another ME, and I start eating anything and everything.  I only have healthy things in the house but seem to consume it all.   The next morning I start all over.  I recently lost 32 pounds, and I am putting it all back on.   I am so unhappy with ME.  I am 59 and with high cholesterol. Even though, I am clearly headed in a bad direction, I eat and eat some more. Words of advice.  ~ G.L.

Dear GL ~   If it feels like an alien has taken over, or as you so aptly put it 'another you' comes out to 'play' at night; if it feels like you just can't get through, not even one day and you are unable to stop consuming it all, then your unconscious mind has taken over, and you are no longer in charge (which is why your health concerns are over-rided).

The best thing you can do to gain control (and lose pounds) is create your very own set of rules to live by.  When we create rules, we are essentially creating a guide that leads to a new habit.  The making and writing out of the rules helps us to 'keep them in mind,' so that we can substitute one unconscious behavior for another.  Habits are unconscious behaviors.  Some are useful; some are not.  The more specific the rules are, the easier it is to 'hold them in mind.'

An example of a rule that I live by:  No eating post 8:23 p.m. (ha! funny time, I do make things humorous).  Here's a rule for my husband:  No eating in front of me post 8:23 p.m. (I asked for his support; I don't want to open up the food door in my brain.)

I could write a book about the rules and hey! there's an idea ... but in the meantime, join with me on April 28 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time for a session on the rules that can help you to be in control and change it all forever~ OLofWL

Last week, I shared my favorite cactus quote and asked you to send me yours.

From V. Lane ... "I love the quote today!  I sent it to my fellow "Succulents,",a group of women so called because we thrive on very little nourishment.  All in good fun, of course.  I told them if they stand on any cacti to be sure and wear boots - cool ones!  Because we know that when you wear cool boots you own the world. Happy spring! ~ V. Lane, Seattle, WA.

"The meaning of life is not to be discovered only after death in some hidden, mysterious realm; on the contrary, it can be found by eating the succulent fruit of the Tree of Life and by living in the here and now as fully and creatively as we can." ~ Paul Kurtz
