FAQ: How to Plan for Fertile Days?
Q: "Why is it so important that a woman have a plan for the fertile days?"

A: Research shows that women who have a plan for how they will handle the fertile days, are much more likely to use the Standard Days Method and CycleBeads successfully.

Ideally a woman and her partner will discuss what they want to do during the 'white bead days', the days when the woman is most likely to get pregnant, before they begin using CycleBeads. Having discussed a plan for managing those days will ensure that the couple is prepared either to use a backup method or to abstain.

Having a plan means that a couple is much less likely to have unprotected intercourse during the time when pregnancy is most likely.

Welcome!
Happy New Year! This is the time of year when many of us are making plans for how we'll spend our time and energy in the months ahead.

With this in mind, we wanted to share some of the interesting and creative ideas that we've heard this past year from women that use CycleBeads. We've compiled the best of these ideas in the list "Top 10 Ideas for Planning with CycleBeads".

We also want to share our plans for 2006. These plans include continuing our efforts to educate healthcare professionals, working with international health organizations, expanding availability, and working with at-risk groups.

We hope that you have already planned a fulfilling 2006 - Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Top 10 Ideas for Planning with CycleBeads

The top 10 suggestions that we've heard from users on how CycleBeads help them plan...

1) If you don't want to get pregnant, plan to have your mother-in-law visit during the white bead days. My husband and I have found that it's the easiest way to ensure we're careful during that time.

2) I try to avoid stressful situations the few days prior to my period. I found that I'm moody during these days and don't deal as well with stress. If possible, I try to deal with stressful issues beforehand or put them off until I get my period.

3) I was always surprised the first day of my period and often didn't have the necessary supplies. Now I always check and make sure I have tampons and pads the day I put the ring on the dark brown bead.

4) As someone who wants to get pregnant, I make sure not to have business trips scheduled during the white bead days. I want to be home during the time when pregnancy is most likely.

5) My husband and I aren't very good at planning ahead and we don't want anymore kids so we keep condoms on hand in case the mood strikes during the white bead days.

6) We plan date nights on the brown bead days.

7) We keep the beads out in plain sight so we can see the glowing beads from across the room and know when we're getting close to the white bead days.

8) CycleBeads helped me realize that my cycle is very regular - usually 28-30 days long. Once I knew this, I was able to plan ahead to my wedding date and make sure that I scheduled it on a day when I was sure I wouldn't have my period.

9) As a triathlete, I've found that where I am in my cycle affects my performance. Now I plan ahead and use events where I think I'll be feeling down (for me that's in the middle of my cycle), as training events.

10) CycleBeads helped me plan a conversation with my teenage daughter. Using them to help explain to her how her cycle works - when she should expect her period, when she ovulates, etc. etc., made it much easier.

Our Plans for 2006
This year promises to be a busy one as we expand our efforts to make CycleBeads available for anyone who wants a natural, easy to use family planning option. Projects include:

• Working with international health organizations.
We are proud of the work that we are doing with groups such as Population Services InternationalUNFPA, and many others. These groups are truly trying to change the world.

We plan to continue the work we're doing with the international healthcare community and make CycleBeads available anywhere a low cost, easy, natural option is needed. CycleBeads are now available in more than 20 countries.

For a list of partner organizations and the countries in which they are working with CycleBeads, visit here.
