FAQ: How to Plan for Fertile Days?
Q: "Why is it so important that a woman have a plan for the fertile days?"

A: Research shows that women who have a plan for how they will handle the fertile days, are much more likely to use the Standard Days Method and CycleBeads successfully.

Ideally a woman and her partner will discuss what they want to do during the 'white bead days', the days when the woman is most likely to get pregnant, before they begin using CycleBeads. Having discussed a plan for managing those days will ensure that the couple is prepared either to use a backup method or to abstain.

Having a plan means that a couple is much less likely to engage in risky behavior during the time when pregnancy is most likely.

...because every woman should know.

Welcome!

As we start the new year I know that many of us have made plans for how we would like to spend 2005. In this newsletter we want to share with you how we at Cycle Technologies are planning on spending the next 12 months.

And in the spirit of planning, we’ve included the story of a young woman who used CycleBeads to plan a pregnancy. After all, "family planning" is about planning when TO have children as well as planning when not to! We’ve also responded to an issue that we think is important - having a plan for the fertile days.

We hope that you have already planned a fulfilling 2005 - Happy New Year!

Personal Story: A Baby in 2005!
Jeanne M., Age 32
Certified Prenatal, Labor and Postpartum Massage Therapist
Boulder, CO

I started using CycleBeads last summer because my husband and I wanted to get pregnant. We had been trying unsuccessfully for a short time but hadn’t really understood which days we needed to focus on.

As a Prenatal, Labor and Postpartum Massage Therapist, I actually work with a lot of pregnant women and had always understood that you ovulate in the middle of your cycle. But, I hadn’t realized that you could get pregnant so early in your cycle (day 8). CycleBeads helped me understand that, and my husband and I decided to try harder on those days.

It worked! By September 2004 I was pregnant, and I’m looking forward to having my first child in a few months. I’m due in June.

If you have a story that you would like to share with us, we would love to hear from you. Please send us an email at info@cyclebeads.com

Our Plans for the New Year
This year promises to be a busy one as we expand our efforts to make CycleBeads available for anyone who wants a natural, easy to use family planning option. Projects include:

• Working with international health organizations.
We are proud of the work that we are doing with groups such as CARE International and Advance Africa. These groups are truly trying to change the world. CycleBeads are now available in more than 25 countries. We plan to continue the work we're doing with the international healthcare community and make CycleBeads available anywhere a low cost, easy, natural option is needed. For a list of partner organizations, visit here.

• Educating healthcare providers.
Our 2005 Conference schedule is now set. Upcoming conferences include Planned Parenthood's Women's Health Care Annual Seminar (February 23-25th in Philadelphia, PA); Contraceptive Technology (March 9-12 in San Francisco, CA and April 6-9 in Washington, DC)*; and Natural Products Expo West (March 18-21 in Anaheim, CA).

* At many of the conferences formal trainings will be available from our partners at the Institute for Reproductive Health. For a more detailed schedule and information about presentations and trainings visit here.

• Expanding availability.
We will continue to work with retailers and healthcare providers in the U.S. to ensure that women are able to learn about this important family planning option and get CycleBeads easily.

• Working with at risk groups.
We work with a number of groups that educate at risk women and youth about their reproductive health. We are looking forward to continuing this work in 2005.

• Other exciting events!
CycleBeads are currently featured in The Bead Museum located in Washington DC. CycleBeads are part of an exhibit called The Eternal Bead which will be open from January 2 - June 26, 2005.
