The Ruach Brigade Needs You -- on Sunday, September 13!
Do you like to hang out in the sun? Meet new people? Schmooze with your friends? Here's a chance to do all that and do a mitzvah for Beth El at the same time!
On Sunday, September 13 there are two major opportunities for us to tell new people about our terrific Beth El community - Solano Stroll and the Jewish Federation's PicnicFest in Oakland's Joaquin MIller Park. Both of these will run most of the day. We need a bunch of friendly, enthusiastic folks to come, hang out at our table and talk about what ties you to Beth El. Maybe you'd like to come with another family, or your chavurah? Teens are especially welcome!
If you're interested, please click here, enter BE as your password, and volunteer. Todah rabah!
Also, a huge todah rabah to those of you who've returned the yellow Ruach Brigade form that was sent out with the High Holiday ticket mailing. It's wonderful that so many members are seeking to become more involved in the Beth El community. If you haven't already returned your form, please send it in - we'd love to find ways for you to further your connection to Beth El in the coming year!

Beth El Landscape Tending Day
Sunday, August 30 • 9:30 am - 1:00 pm
Please help us beautify Beth El for the New Year by participating in our garden tending day on Sunday, August 30 from 9:30 to 1:00 pm (rain cancels). Please bring gloves and tools.
It is helpful if you RSVP to Susan Frankel, but you may also just show up. Please invite your friends and forward this on to others that might be interested. Hope to see you there. We really need your help!
Interested in environmental activism on a community level?
Beth El has been approached to be part of an East Bay interfaith environmental working group. The group would act as an initial steering committee to explore strategies for developing a faith-based, grass roots movement to meet the challenges of climate change and eco-justice. For more information, please email Debbie Leon.
Sing in the New Year: Join Beth El's High Holy Day Chorus
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, August 19th - September 23rd • 7:00-9:00 pm
Are you a CBE member who loves to sing? Join the chorus, and prepare for the High Holy Days through some of Jewish tradition's most beautiful music. Musical background is not necessary --the only requirement to sing with the chorus is your commitment to being at the rehearsals and the services.
The Chorus will sing at the late services on Erev Rosh Hashanah (Friday, September 18th, 8:45 pm) and Kol Nidre (Sunday, September 27th, 8:45 pm) Rehearsals will take place Wednesday evenings from August 12th through September 23rd, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Beth El. Our repertoire will include High Holy Day music from Spain, Germany, Casablanca, Poland, Israel and the U.S. We’ll work hard, but the atmosphere will be fun and supportive! In addition to sheet music, rehearsal CDs will be available to all singers who would find them useful in learning the music.
The Chorus will be directed by Beth El's incoming Rabbinic Intern, Reuben Zellman. Reuben has significant experience as a director and singer of Jewish choral music, and is looking forward with enthusiasm to working with Beth El's chorus! Please email Reuben to let him know that you'll be singing with us, or with any questions. We want YOU, yes YOU, to sing in the year 5770!
