FAQ: How to Determine if Cycles are in Range?
Q: "Many of my patients have no idea if their cycles are in the 26-32 day range to use CycleBeads. What do you suggest?"

A:  Most women don't know exactly how long their cycles are. Many women even think that they have irregular cycles because their cycle length may vary by a few days from one cycle to the next. However, most women (not all, but most) do have cycles within the 26 - 32 day range. And there are a few basic questions that a health provider can ask that may help determine if a woman's cycles are in the appropriate range to use CycleBeads. These questions include:

When did you get your last period?
When do you expect your next period?
Are your cycles generally about a month apart?

These questions are just the beginning though. To find out more about how to determine if a client's cycles are in range for using CycleBeads, whether a client can begin using CycleBeads immediately or needs to wait, and answers to other common counseling situations, we suggest taking the online training .

Welcome...Back to School
Dear Healthcare Professional,

Kids aren't the only ones who are heading back to school this year. Doctors are heading back too, especially now that they can get free CME's with an online training that offers comprehensive information on the easy, effective, natural family planning option CycleBeads.

While most medical schools don't teach much about natural family planning, this online training helps healthcare providers determine who can use CycleBeads and how to give patients quality, comprehensive counseling. Additionally, it describes the scientific basis of the method and offers a range of downloadable educational resources.

The training is provided by our colleagues at Georgetown University. In addition to offering free CME's, the training offers free CEU's to nurses, nurse-midwives, and nurse practitioners.

Also included in this newsletter is information about other resources available such as free counseling guides, patient education materials, and live trainings. If you have any questions about the resources available or need any further information to help you better meet the needs of your patients, please let us know.

Welcome back to school!

Sincerely,

Leslie Heyer
President
Cycle Technologies

Training Opportunities
There are both online and live training opportunities to help healthcare providers learn about the research and methodology behind CycleBeads, and learn how to counsel patients that want to use this family planning option.

Online Training for MD's, Nurse Professionals & Other Healthcare Providers - The Institute for Reproductive Health at Georgetown University offers a comprehensive training focused on CycleBeads and the Standard Days Method. This training is free of charge. CME's are now available for MD's! CEU's are available for nurse professionals. To learn more about the Institute for Reproductive Health training, click here.

Live Trainings - Live trainings are available for all healthcare providers at many conferences. The next live training is scheduled for:

NPWH 9th Annual Conference
Women's Healthcare in the New Millenium
Philadelphia, PA
October 10-13, 2007

Free Educational Materials
We have numerous communication materials to help you raise awareness among your patients and talk to them about CycleBeads. All of these materials are free with purchase:

Counseling Guide - We now provide a free comprehensive Counseling Guide for all orders of CycleBeads. If you offer CycleBeads, but do not have a Counseling Guide in your office, please contact us and we will send a Counseling Guide to you free of charge.

The Counseling Guide provides information on counseling patients to use CycleBeads correctly, how to identify patients who should NOT be using CycleBeads, and how to address 'special' situations such as when a woman has recently been pregnant or is transitioning from using a family planning method that may have disrupted her cycle.

Client Brochures - Client brochures are a great way for women to learn about CycleBeads and how they work.

Posters - Attractive 11 x 17 and 8 x 11 posters are available.  The smaller version also includes useful information on the back such as effectiveness comparisons, information on the research on which CycleBeads is based, etc.

Introductory Video or CD-ROM- A short, but informative video is available for providers to share with patients either in your waiting room or during a counseling session.  A VHS tape or CD-ROM is available free of charge with purchase.
