Our Automotive Buying Center (ABC) was established in 2008 and officially opened in 2009 as the social entrepreneurship arm of Wheels of Success. Through the winning of a business plan competition award sponsored by The Rotary Club of Tampa and the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, WOS received the seed money to establish a dealership location and purchase several vehicles.
We are not a car lot, but rather a buying service catering to two different types of buyers:
1) those with limited funds desiring to purchase reliable, affordable vehicles with limited warranties; and
2) those with limited time, knowledge and/or mobility who want a new or pre-owned vehicle but would also like to get the most car for their needs/ dollars while assisting our non-profit in the process.
This new service seeks to prevent people from buying unreliable vehicles because they cannot afford/don’t know how to get a car inspected before purchase and, therefore, tend to buy something that is cosmetically appealing but mechanically unsound.
The reasonable profit made from these ABC transactions will revert to the non-profit to be used toward operating costs.
