Bridge to the Future

I am looking forward to another wonderful, Dance-filled Wilderness Camp. As I have been traveling this fall, winter, and spring I am amazed at the quality of the new Dances that I meet. I have been in Hawaii, Mexico, Utah, and Oregon. So many Dances, so little time. Many of the Wilderness leaders travel, and I'm sure will also be picking up and creating new material. Wilderness will again have great morning practices (including yoga, free dancing, and tai chi), great Dancing and music, passion presentations, dance, drum and guitar skill classes, Dance incubation sessions, and input from the children’s camp and the young adult camp.

Some of my new work comes from the Hawaiin Ho'oponopono tradition. In that tradition, we are encouraged to take responsibility for anything in our life that upsets us; anything we encounter that disturbs us. The affirmation "I'm sorry, please forgive me for whatever is going on inside me that manifests as (the issue)," is used to turn, the subconscious memories creating the discomfort, over to the divine for "restructuring." I have been using this in my life and encourage you to try it with everything from "the war" to meeting a friend who is in pain. Check out www.hooponopono.org .

We are encouraging our dance community to share inspirational and troubling input on the Oneness website (see article on left). We are hoping that we consciously confront all the challenges on humanities plate and allow this to percolate this summer, then allow our group practice at Wilderness to shed light and direction to us all.

It is very clear to me that our Dance circles play the role of the guru in opening us to the divine.

Once again we are inviting you to offer a presentation at Wilderness of what you are passionate about. If it relates to our theme, great, but we are open to anything that lights you up, that you want to share. Laughter Yoga, NVC, some book or ideas that you are excited about, permaculture, co-housing, advanced kazoo playing, etc. Let us know as soon as possible so we can schedule you in.

Please make sure your Dance circle has flyers for the camp. Contact
shahar@onenessproject.com if you need flyers.

You may see photos and listen to music from last year's camp at

Tony Rasch
a.k.a. Mr. (Very) Steady

Tony and Kay (his wife) Rasch first appeared at a Bozeman DUP dance back in 1992. At that early time in the dances here they were held in my living room (what a good deal for my house!). I also met Tony at our active men’s group meetings. To say that he and Kay have been steadfast only just begins to touch the surface of their dedication and service….it doesn’t even begin to describe the depth and joy that their presence brings. Kay’s recently been written up in the OP newsletter so I’m going to concentrate on lauding and laughing – at and with – Tony.

Love, Healing and Compassion in Brazil

The 2006 edition of the Dances of Universal Wisdom Workshop (DUW) again exceeded the expectations of organizers, faculty and participants. It integrated and complemented the native wisdom of Brazilian indigenous tribes (in particular the Guaraní, Kaingang, Tapuia and Tupi tribes as presented by Kaká Werá Jecupé) with the profound beauty and teachings from the universal wisdom of the Dances of Universal Peace as expressed by Anahata Iradah and Prema Dasara.

The key “tones” or words for the workshop were Love, Healing and Compassion and what the native traditions and the dances of Universal Peace could offer in vibration with these tones. A marvelous challenge indeed that was covered with wonderful synchronicity, complementation and professionalism by all focalizers of the event.

Our Children

Bridges to the Future

I recently attended the Ozarks Sufi Dance Camp, an annual experience of beloved who comes together to drink from the well of love. During one of the dances several 9-10 year olds were joyfully dancing with a two year old, in the circle. The toddler’s mom was also dancing close, observing and welcoming these children who were caring for her daughter. The older children were attuned to the needs of this toddler, and attuned to the dance movements. They were present in both arenas. Children naturally know how to be present. This is their gift to us adults: “ the practice of presence”. The following day the circle was gifted with poetry and readings from the Youth’s creative writing class guided by Matt the youth director. With impeccable insight, depth, illumination and courage teens shared their soul with us. Their seed of truth flowered organically in this environment.

As I danced in the circle, I saw how our children are OUR Bridge to the Future”. They hold the key and foundation for the future human experience on Earth. How we embrace and nurture our children and families directly relates to how that future unfolds.

As a Dance leader and parent I have been curious as to what impact the Dances have upon children, youth and young adult development. In many camp experiences I witness children and young adults showing us the way to spiritual practice. As the children’s program director of the Creative Arts for Peace Dance Camp, I have been interested in “how does the container that the Dance family creates hold and nurture our children?” What gifts present themselves with our intergenerational family?

News for the Dance Network

June 2007

From: The Mentor Teachers Guild Guidance Council (MTG GC);The International Core Council (ICC – Board of Directors of PeaceWorks, International Network for the Dances of Universal Peace, Inc); and the Oneness Project Board of Trustees.

A time of opportunity and grace is opening for the greater Dance Network – volunteers, members and all dancers. The MTG Guidance Council (MTG-GC) has made a proposal to the International Core Council of INDUP (ICC) and the Oneness Project Board of Trustees (OP) which has as its goals greater empowerment and financial stability for the Dance Network. “Empowerment“ not only in an administrative sense, but also within the transmission side of our Dance work, and “financial“ not only in supporting dance events, but also creating additional professional administration.

We see this as a great opportunity for growth and transformation, but one requiring time for clarity and integration, with input coming from the whole family. To this end we commit ourselves to keeping you all informed at regular intervals by messages to Regional Networkers and postings on the Dancing Peace and MTG list-serves. We will look forward to your reflections and contributions as the process unfolds.

At present, the OP and INDUP Boards are considering the MTG-GC proposal and preparing their initial responses. The proposal is very much a draft version which we expect will change, possibly significantly, after this initial consideration. We hope to provide an update with more information to you just after the time of the Winter/Summer Solstice in June.

May all beings be well, may all beings be happy. Peace. Peace. Peace.
