TIAW's Pioneering Haitian Voyage,
July 2012

Gini Robinson, CFO, TIAW Microenterprise Development Committee &
Evelyn Brown, Past Treasurer TIAW

With the tremendous interest expressed by TIAW's Microenterprise Development Committee, its Women in Leadership (WIL) Network in Philadelphia and other donors, the Micro Chief Financial Officer and the then TIAW Treasurer augmented our usual due diligence process by traveling to Haiti preparatory to establishing village banks (centers as they're called in Haiti). This pioneering activity in Haiti is TIAW's first venture in the Caribbean since 2003 when TIAW and the Financial Women's Association of New York launched our Lenore Albom Memorial Bank in the Dominican Republic.  More

Not an Average COO:
Barb Stevens, ReadyTalk

As the COO of ReadyTalk, Barb Stevens is responsible for operational leadership of ReadyTalk’s product delivery processes. She oversees the company’s technical support, operations, and product management resources.

Twelve years ago, Stevens was also one of the founding employees at ReadyTalk, a leading provider of audio and web conferencing services, which explains her heavy role in the product process.

“When we were launching ReadyTalk, our group of employees was small, so we didn’t have the luxury of specializing in areas; rather we focused on all of our different strengths to get work done,” said Stevens. “Product development and project management happened to be some of my strengths, which are why my duties as COO seem very non-traditional compared to other COOs.”  More

September 2012

President’s message

In this edition I want to focus on the Global Forum and the dedicated team of  board members, past presidents and volunteers who are continually working together  to develop a program for our  International Conference to benefit both members and winners as diverse as ours.

This year we owe an incredible debt of gratitude to our Chair Peg Weir, TIAW VP Finance and past president of EWG (Executive Women in Government) . Peg is also herself a World of Difference Award winner, 2010. Having feet on the ground in Washington has been a tremendous asset as Peg has been able to use her connections and those of EWG to host our opening reception at the beautiful United States Botanic Garden Conservatory and our Presidents Luncheon at the National Women’s Museum in the Arts. Assembling a committee of like-minded women who are located in various countries is a small feat on its own!!  More

TIAW Report of the recent conference in Washington DC 2011
by 1st time attendee Diane Tompson

When I accepted the invitation by Maxine Westaway to speak at the TIAW annual conference, I had no idea of the depth of knowledge and experience that I would find in my fellow participants. Over the years I have attended my fair share of conferences which if I am truthful leave me tired and frustrated.  It was therefore a delightful surprise to discover how informative and interesting this event turned out to be and how invigorated and inspired I felt after the closing ceremony. Over two days of action packed activities, there was not one panel or speaker that I did not learn from or enjoy listening to. More
