   FAQ's Answered

Some women have been asking...

"I often spot in the middle of my cycle and before my period begins. Should I consider this the beginning of my cycle?"

No. It is very normal to have some spotting either mid-cycle or just before your period starts, but this is probably not your period. Many women spot a little bit around the middle of their cycles. This is usually an indication that they are ovulating. A day or so of spotting before a woman's period starts is also normal.

You should consider your period to have started when you can clearly recognize that the bleeding you see is related to your menstruation. If you bleed at any other time during your cycle, or if your mid-cycle bleeding is more than just spotting, you should see your health provider.

Welcome Letter

As the year comes to an end, it seems like the perfect time to update you on the work that we’ve been doing to help women plan or prevent pregnancy easily and naturally. In our discussions with women who are using CycleBeads, we keep hearing the same things over and over:

“Why didn’t anyone tell me this information before?”

“Please, please get the word out on this important new family planning option!”

We wanted to assure all of you that we are working to “get the word out” and tell you a little about how we’re doing that. In this newsletter you can read more about the work we’re doing to RESEARCH and better understand the needs of women who want natural effective family planning options; EDUCATE the medical community on CycleBeads and the family planning method on which they are based; and INCREASE the AVAILABILITY of CycleBeads through key retailers and healthcare providers.

This newsletter is the first of what will be a regular update on our activities. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions on how we can improve this newsletter, we would love to hear from you!

Happy Holidays,

Leslie Heyer

Educating the Medical Community

We’ve been working with our partners at the Institute for Reproductive Health to educate the medical community through trainings and conferences. We’ve found that many healthcare providers are skeptical of natural methods initially because they have found them to be difficult to use and to teach. Therefore they often consider them unreliable.

CycleBeads address this problem and give healthcare providers an easy and effective natural option to talk to their patients about.

We, and our partners have been working with a range of programs from Planned Parenthood programs to midwives, from State Health Departments to private clinicians, offering trainings and technical updates.

Increasing Availability

A key aspect of “getting the word out” is simply making CycleBeads widely available. We are working with healthcare providers and natural product retailers who can help women understand this family planning option and determine if it is right for them.

We are also still making CycleBeads available directly from Cycle Technologies either via mail or through our website.

To find a retailer or a provider near you, to download a mail order form, or to purchase directly over the Internet visit our website at www.cyclebeads.com
