Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning. ~ Gloria Steinem

janice_headshotHellloooooooooo Tushkateers!!!

How excited are you that it is Tuesday and you are receiving a Kick in the Tush from none other than the patron saint of permanent fat removal, Our Lady of Weight Loss?  I know that I am!  I was super-excited that she dragged me out of bed at 5:30 am (not!!!), just when I was deep into an amazing, awe-inspiring dream.

My Dream:  The Dalai Lama and Joseph Campbell came to visit me (while sleep dreaming).  Just as they were about to reveal the secrets of the universe, OLofWL hit me over the head with a Zen celery stick and said, "up n' at 'em, girlfriend."  Then she snapped her fingers three times!!!  My eyes popped open and I kicked into high gear.

The dream was a double dream.  I was sleep-dreaming and the dream could easily be a dream come true -- to sit with the Dalai Lama and Joseph Campbell, serve up a few bowls of steaming hot steel cup Oatmeal -- and discuss creation.  Of course, Joseph Cambell died in 1987, making my dream come true a tad more difficult, but hey, I believe in miracles, and time isn't what we think it is, so you just never know.

While cruising (or is it surfing?) the Internet for 'dream' quotes, I came across Gloria Steinem's (above).  I especially loved it and was ignited by it because Gloria brilliantly made dreaming a part of planning.  I believe that we must first 'see', have a 'vision' - a dream - for our compelling future, before we can move toward it.  Even before clearing out the fridge and stocking it with the right stuff, stop for a moment and dream.

Dream, imagine ... what it might be like if your health/weight problem were no longer a challenge ... what could your world look like?  Chew on that this week, and if you have any brilliant or even less than brilliant thoughts on the matter, let me know!  Write me and be sure to put DREAM in the subject line, lest your post gets lost in the sauce!  For sharing purposes, please limit your response to two (tops three) sentences!

And now ... are you ready for your fully loaded Kick in the Tush?  It is chock-a-block with motivation, inspiration, healthy recipes, jigsaw puzzles, and so much more!   Look at the side bar, to your right ----> -- no your other right ----> and feast on this week's side dishes:  a buffet of tasty tidbits including (but not limited to) -  THE ELDER CARE BLUES:  Where the Birds Scream (poignant and funny, I promise not to make you cry), 40 Years of Breakfast Tips, 13 Steps: A Guideline to Nighttime Eating, Rosemary Beef Hash ... and more!

Again, please feel free to Chew the FAT with OLofWL and/or me.  Both OLofWL and I seriously love, love, love hearing from you!  And if you are interested in my coaching services, then scroll down, read about the in's n' out's of how I work, send me your questions and let's set up a free consult.   It is my pleasure to 'meet' Tushkateers across the land.  And if your land is far from my land, there's always Skype.    AND ... finally ... if you wrote me and I did not answer, it is highly likely that your email went into the spam bucket.  Sad, but true.  So, try me again!!!  Write "CONSULT" in the subject line.

Enjoy!!! And 'see' you next week!

Spread the word ... NOT the icing!

PHOTO from TUCSON!  hail- OMG Folks!  Can you imagine.  I escaped NYC in search of sun - and for the most part I found it - BUT BUT BUT - for a brief 10 minutes yesterday, there was HAIL!!!  I opened the door to the back courtyard, ran out and snapped it while it was falling!

Last night there was a deep freeze.  We had to take in all the plants and wrap the cactus with sheets, drip the water so that the pipes don't freeze and burst ... but today it will be in the 60's, tomorrow the 70's and then 80's toward the end of the week.

If you look hard, to the left back corner, you can see that the bird of paradise are in bloom (early, suppose to do bird-up in the fall) and the wall of jasmine is smelling mighty fine, about to bloom!

Ain't nature grand???  The mystery of it all.  Ahhhhh ... deep nature breaths.

 Interesting faTOiDs about Birds

The most yolks ever found in a single chicken's egg is nine.

An ostrich egg needs to be boiled for 2 hours to get a hard-boiled egg.

The egg of the hummingbird is the world's smallest bird's egg; the egg of the ostrich, the world's largest.

The now-extinct elephant bird of Madagascar laid an egg that weighed 27 pounds.

A bird's heart beats 400 times per minute while resting and up to 1000 beats per minute while flying.

Penguins, ostriches, and dodo birds are all birds that do not fly.

Hummingbirds eat about every ten minutes, slurping down twice their body weight in nectar every day.
